A BIG HELLO FROM TINY-HAUS

It started in 2013, Tiny-Haus Australia founders, Simon and Lauren Jones, stumbled across a small derelict 150-year-old sandstone church on the Hawkesbury River. Unable to obtain funding from the bank for what was considered a ruin, they sold all of their assets including their family home in the NSW Blue Mountains, and set out to restore and convert the small 60 sqm church into a functional family home.  This ignited a deep passion for rural off-grid living and a simpler way of life.

Off-grid Church life provided them with many amazing things, storage and warmth, was not one of them. So, after 6 years of living in the cold sandstone building, they decided to extend the family home and build a modest, energy-efficient extension that would provide them with all the comforts of living in a modern family home without significantly increasing their carbon footprint.

It was the desire for sustainable and energy-efficient building methods that drew Simon to investigate passive housing.  Designing and building the extension to passive house standards allowed Simon to create a quality bespoke home that is completely sustainable, energy-efficient and comfortable to live in throughout all seasons.
